The Early intervention Clinic is a service that provides early screening and intervention to infants at a high risk of Cerebral Palsy or a neuro-motor difficulty. Intervention is vital during this very early time because an infant learns and develops at the fastest rate during these first few years.
The image below explains the work carried out at the Early Intervention Clinic:
The service includes medical assistance, physical and occupational therapy and assistive technology devices. The clinic can also provide advice and guidance on home management in which families with a child with disabilities are supported by a trans-disciplinary team of therapists, special educators and social workers.
The Early Intervention Clinic is also supported by Century Plyboards India Ltd.
We recently formed a partnership with the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP), based in Kolkata, West Bengal. IICP is a non-government organization which supports over 1500 children and young people in Kolkata and the surrounding areas. We are pleased to announce, this year, Big Hug will be supporting two of their projects, The Early intervention Clinic (infants 0-2 years) and the Jugnu Pre-School and Nutrition Programme (children ages 6-16).
