Karan Raj was very young when his father was killed in a tragic accident. His mother tried to raise him and his brother, Kamal Raj, by herself, but like many women in rural India, it was difficult for her to earn a decent living without a husband to support her. In 2010, she sent both her sons to Cornerstone Children’s Home, so that they would receive a better education and an increased chance of a successful adult life.
Karan Raj is now fifteen years old. He enjoys drawing, and dreams of working for the government. While at the orphanage, both he and his brother have received care, attention and a healthy environment in which to learn and socialise with other children. This is all thanks to the generous volunteers who work at the orphanage, and the donations received at Big Hug Foundation.
