Pooraja is sixteen years old. At a young age, he was abandoned by his father, whose whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Meanwhile, his mother is struggling to earn a salary in a village in Tamil Nadu. Pooraja’s mother makes barely 30 pence a day, an insufficient income to support both herself and her child, so in 2010 she sent her two sons to Cornerstone Children’s Home.
Pooraja was malnourished and underweight when he arrived at Cornerstone. Staff there are providing underweight children with a nutritious health mix, which they mix with milk and eat twice a week. We have seen a massive improvement in a majority of the children since they started eating the health mix, and we hope to see the same in Pooraja in the near future. In the meantime, he is studying well, enjoys sports and reading, and has ambitions to become an astronaut and a computer engineer.
