Manoj Kumar

Manoj is fourteen years old. Coming from a poverty-stricken family, he has experienced a demanding lifestyle from a very young age. At the age of ten, he saw his grandfather murder his father over family monetary issues. Following this tragedy, his mother ran away with him, hoping to avoid any further confrontation or trauma.

Supporting Manoj as a single mother became an almost impossible challenge. Barely able to feed and shelter him, let alone pay the high costs of school fees and reading materials, she knew that Manoj’s education was in jeopardy. In 2011 she sent him to Cornerstone Children’s Home, where he lives a happier, healthier lifestyle among caring volunteers and other children. He is studying well, and hopes to become a policeman when he grows up. In the meantime, Big Hug Foundation is working closely with Cornerstone Trust to help improve his mother’s situation.
